You may find yourself in a situation where you need to export data in bulk or automatically. Most often, for reasons like compliance, archiving, reporting, analytics, and more. To help with this, we offer a public API and integrations of varying degrees of complexity that get you up and running smoothly.

This typically consists of three parts: extract inspection data from iAuditor, modify it to fit your requirements and load it into a third-party application that you use. By providing an API,  SDK tools, and third-party integrations, we help you extract your data from iAuditor and easily connect it to your other systems. There are several ways to extract inspection data from iAuditor. Below are examples that cover the most common use cases. If you do not have any development resources available, we recommend using a third-party integration service such as Zapier (described below).

IMPORTANT NOTE

All automatic exporting use cases require a Premium subscription.

Cloud to Cloud – Using Zapier

Zapier is a third-party integration service that allows you to automatically export audit data without having to install and run the software. Using Zapier, you can export audit data to an online spreadsheet like Google Sheet or Microsoft Excel Online, Salesforce, and hundreds of other cloud-based applications. More information on how to start and share audits automatically with Zapier is available here, and more general information on how to build custom workflows with Zapier is available here.

Cloud to Local System – Using the iAuditor Exporter Tool

Installing our free, open-source audit exporter tool allows you to export audit data and save them automatically to files on disk in several formats:

New users can install the Audit Exporter tool and start using it by copy and pasting the following instructions into the terminal:

  1. pip install safetyculture-sdk-python
  2. iauditor_exporter --setup
  3. cd iauditor_exports_folder
  4. iauditor_exporter

With the exporter tool, users can export inspection (audit) data in the following formats:

  • JSON (raw, no images)
  • CSV (tabular, no images)
  • PDF (formatted report, with images)
  • DOCX (MS WORD, formatted report, with images)

Media files, actions, and Web Report links can also be exported using the tool. With minimal development effort, you can transform and load the exported audit data into any third-party application such as:

  • Storage solutions: Dropbox, Box, Google Drive
  • Spreadsheet software: Excel, Google Sheets
  • Database solutions
  • BI Tools: Power BI, Tableau
  • Storing documents on file systems

IMPORTANT NOTE

By configuring the audit exporter tool to save audit data to a cloud-synced folder such as DropBox, Box, Google Drive or One Drive/One Drive for Business, you can automatically archive audit data to the cloud and link them to other applications using services such as Zapier, MS Flow, etc. Using MS Flow, you can then connect exported audit data to SharePoint or other document management systems.

Fully Customizable – Using the iAuditor API Directly to Develop a Custom Exporter

The iAuditor developer portal has information on how to build custom solutions for any platform or environment. It also has many use cases, such as checking for audits modified within a specified date range and exporting the inspection (audit) data.
